400+ Years of Pugliese Mastery, Tradition & Heart.

We currently offer three extra virgin olive oils from Olio De Carlo: Tenuta Arcamone, Peranzana (February’s EVOO of the Month), and Puglia Olio Amore IGP. This month, our focus is on Peranzana (in the middle of the three above), a beautifully balanced oil that captures the essence of De Carlo’s craft and Puglian terroir.
What follows is the story behind the family, the mill, and the land that makes this oil so special.
What a visit.
From the moment we walked in and saw our names lit up in lights, we knew we were about to experience something truly special.
We were welcomed by Marina De Carlo, who took us on a journey deep into the history of a family that has been making olive oil since 1600. Yes — 1600. That’s not heritage… that’s thoroughbred olive oil royalty.
Tradition + Innovation = Mastery
De Carlo works with values older than the mill itself:
- tradition
- respect for the land
- zero-impact production
- short-chain farming
- harmony with nature
Yet at the same time, they are fiercely modern.
We followed the entire process:
- delivery
- cleaning
- crushing
- extracting
- storing
And with 400+ years of experience behind them, it shows. Every step was clean, controlled, polished — the kind of precision that only comes from generations perfecting their craft.

A Family Story Written in Olive Trees
The De Carlo legacy spans over four centuries, rooted in the iconic red soils and white stone landscapes of Puglia.
Since the 1980s, the historic mill has been led by Saverio and Grazia De Carlo, and today their children —Marina and Francesco — along with son-in-law Arturo, continue the work with passion, precision, and deep respect for their land.
This is a family that doesn’t just make oil — they live olive oil.
A Taste of Puglia — Pure, Balanced, Sun-Kissed
After the mill, Marina led us into the tasting room to explore their new oils.
Elegant. Balanced. Flavoured. Harmonious.
Their oils truly carry the aromas of Puglia:
sun, stone, sea breeze, and scarlet soil. Then came the spreads.
The preserved vegetables.
All swimming in their own extra virgin olive oil.
Delicious doesn’t even begin to cover it.
A Family That Cares for Its People
One of the most beautiful parts of the De Carlo story? They created their food line — the spreads, the preserves, the vegetables under oil — for one reason: To turn seasonal mill workers into full-time staff. To give their extended family stability. To honour the hands that prune the trees, pick the fruit, and tend the groves. This is a company built on love, loyalty, and responsibility.
Why De Carlo Belongs in The Good Oil Club
